Subject:The sounds of the rain is music to my ears
Time:9:24 pm.

I just wanted to take the time to inform anyone who cares that this has been the first week post summer that I haven't wanted to use the fan at night. Last night was seriously THE first cold night. It wasn't humid it was just plain cold. Relatively 65-60 degrees. I miss the cold weather 

Subject:some thoughts
Time:5:14 pm.
I got my midterm back today, I was convinced it was C material. Somehow over the years my anxiety of in class essays has driven me to the point where I cant put my thoughts onto paper in an organized fashion and it drives me CRAZY! I know the material. My head is constantly thinking but I can't find the words to articulate my point. I feel the pressure of time, I hear everyone else writing away and turning pages after they finish a sentence. While I sit in a pile of burnt eraser.

So I got my midterm back today. I got an A-. WTF. How did she come to a conclusion that what I wrote made any sense? I didn't even think I made a point. I mean, I answered the extra credit question but it was only worth two points. Oh well I really can't complain that much. My goal is to get A's so at least I'm in the ball park.

I had a really great birthday yesterday. I slept till 9am. I went into work for a couple of hours to find that I was going to take a tour with Kapoho Kine. It's a new company we are trying to partner with. Right now the total tour time is seven to eight hours which is slightly long I think. It includes a flight of the island (if you leave from kona), then you land and have a bbq on the river, which has a water fall and a small lake area. They provide kayaks, towels, and water shoes. The menu doesn't ever change so this is what they serve, guava glazed pork ribs, teri chicken, coleslaw with pineapple, cucumber balsamic salad, corn on the cob, mehana beer, and french champagne. It was delicious. And then we flew back to the airport, I went home after that. It was nice to do that and get paid for it. :)

I ditched my classes to study for my midterm, it was worth it. My first class was a sub and we watched a movie, second class had a guest lecturer, according to Matt they just stood outside in the rain talking about survey points and markers. wooohooo. I took my midterm today and felt pretty confident about that. Same teacher as last week but different class.

So after I finished studying I finally got to relax and hang out with my friends. My roommates, including Matt all pitched in and bought me a bread machine, AWESOME. We played some drinking games and then Stacy brought over apples to apples. She also brought the cake. Seriously the best store bought cake I've ever had. It was called princess cake and it was three layers, bottom was pink (guava) with a creamy guava filling, middle was orange (pineapple) with a pineapple cream filling and top was white (coconut) with a haupia layer and then it had some frosting and more pineapple stuff and coconut shavings on the sides. WOW

For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to drink a bottle of champagne by myself at 12am. And go directly to bed after it was gone. What a bad idea that was, my stomach hurt a lot today. But other than that I wasn't feeling horrible.

I picked up a two hour shift at the gym on tuesdays only since I'm already at school for four hours not doing much besides hw. But I can usually do that at work or at the gym working out. I'm pretty poor right now so even though its meager it will help.

Matt told me a few weeks ago that he was discussing in his class how our policies are about 30 years behind the times. And how we are just now getting to the global warning issue, or starting at least. He was just mentioning how he wonders what the next worry will be in thirty years from now. The reason I was thinking about this was because there was an article on MSN today about how calorie dense the food served at schools is and doesn't meet the new food pyramid standards. For example it lacks fresh fruit and vegies, not counting the stuff the can I believe, because its soaked in corn syrup :( Of course they dropped words like childhood obesity and subsidized lunch programs. I just really hope that we still aren't talking about the changes that need to just be made in thirty years. However, I could believe that it is possible considering the Malthus theory has been around since 1798 or whatever.

I'm gong to end this abruptly because I'm at work and I need to start cleaning.

peace

How could the way we eat improve in the future?

. I'm haunted by this question every day. Really quick answer a mire stable economy. Little farms are a dying breed small time farmers can't afford to keep up with the competiton unless they monocrop which creates no biodiversity. Very problematics for example potato famine. Only one crop type of potatoes planted one blight no potatoes country wide. For us in the us think wheat soy rice and corn. It goes into everything a filler. It the majority of what we grow if we continue to support this we are endangering ourselves and our health. Less pollutions from heavy industrial farms. Less use of natural resources to(petroleum) grow food. Read the article the oil we eat. Ok ok I could go on all day bu I just did a huge post I'm over writting on this phone eight now jeez

Time:10:07 pm.

I have no idea what I would like. I'd like to get away with matt for a night out of town. My mom offered to buy me dinner but I need to look into where. I heard fujimamas in waimea is pretty tasty and that is where I'd like to stay. I need to get on that rental.

On a completely differnent note, I was cleaning the shower and matt told me that my ex (Aaron) is going to be a dad........WOW. From what sam and Meredith have told me shes the pick of the trailor park. Way to go Aaron :)

Today was realtively busy. It was my turn to buy water at work. LeAvig the house today the car did not sound ok when i started it this morning. Left anyways because it was my only way of getting to work. Got ten gallons of water, drove to starbucks to ge a pumpkin late. Get in car, won't start. Five minutes of trying and it's now eight am. So I called work and then called Matt. He told me the starter has been acting werid on rainy days so I had to knock the shit out of it with a tire iron. Yay it worked on the road again.

I worked from 8-12. Went to Ross to get new sheets. Then back to walmart to get facewash, toothpaste etc. Get in the car and it doesn't start again. Pop the hood and bang on the starter some more. On my merry way to island naturals, pick up fresh died mango and raw almonds for weekly school snacks, cucumber salad mixings for potlock for party for parks later, and stuff to make dinner which was aaaaaamazingly yummy. Get in car,,,,,pop hood bang on starter fuuuuuuuck you starter piece of crap that we just replaced before we brought the car to Hawaii.

Go home finally at two to find disasterous kitchen. Make cucumer salad super speedy wrong way didn't do the six hour marinade in salt and press yogurt. But it was delish nevertheless. Ummm open a frickin bottle of wine to relax a little before moie biz at school.

Movie preview was quick and I was 15-40 years younger then everyone there. Got home an hour and a half later cleaned the kitchen put on my new sheets and started the laundry. CLEANed the entire kitchen.

Sat down for 30mins and then cooked dinner. I made seared ahi in a lemon caper sauce. This was my first time cooking and eating seared ahi. Let me tell you scrumptious! If you want the recipe ask. But I hink it helped that the fish was caught fresh yesterday. 5$ for a pound a serious steal. Ate some ice cream downloaded FLOW:for the love of water. Matt has to watch it for his environmental politics class but it's good for me to watch too for my environmental ethics class it's pretty disgusting the way we pollute everything. Sure there is the clean water act but the problem with it is it sets the maximum of pollutants a company can dump into a stream. Ok, that's good but we didn't say how many companies could dump there. The combination of many companies polluting a minimal amounts adds up quickly. How is it possible for the government to be so naieve Nd turn their backs. Seriouosly this is just another reason I try eat local fresh organic foods. Purchse as much as I can that is "green". I don't want to support this capital system. Ok yes I went to starbucks. Fuck I felt bad not going to lie, but I do t frequent that place. I gone once or twice so far this year so I think that's ok.

This was way longer than I wanted sorry for the major rant and the typos from the phone update. :) I'm going to watch the movie now

Time:11:41 am.

I'm going to be using lj to log my volunteer hours at the garden this semester. So on Friday I did three hours of work. Pulling weeds on a burn with geoff and jon. They demolished the weeds and I moved wheel barrels to a pile off to the side. Kids were helping us a little. I learned how to make a kupe'e, which is a fern lei. Ugh the first one wasn't so nice but the second one had much nicer appearence.

For the no doubt reunion tour!!!!! YAY. August 11th I'll be there front and center. I can't believe it's been eight years since I saw them for the first time. Rock steady came out in 2001.

I was Going to possibly get a ride to Oahu in a helicopter but that doesn't look like it's going to come through so we aregoing to have to go by plane. No worries my fried is selling some one way tickets that she won to me 3 for $100 bucks we just have to buy the fourth one way and we are good to go. I'm going with my fried Amy since matt will be on a camping trip for school. The idea would have never gotten I to my head had a friend not told me that they were going to be playing. I called for tickets and of course the 11th was sold out so I hoped on eBay and found two tickets for 150 with no bids ending in six hours so I jumped on that right quick. :). Well I had to wait all day and bid twenty minutes before the auction ended I couldn't wait any longer. And I won. I was the only bidder sweet.

So unfortunately Amy works mon thru Friday. She is going to go home
from work sick on Tuesday around 12 so we can catch a flight in time to make it. The doors open at seven and we wanna be in line by 5:30. A cab ride to Waikiki is $40 bucks from the airport takes 45 mins and we would have to pay thatbon the way back and ride the bus to the beach the next day. We are crossing our fingers hoping that the hurricane doesn't decide to sideswipe us while we are there. So after the show we will drive to the hostel where we are just staying for one night for $50. And then fly home the next day. Amy will also be suck on Wednesday she hasn't seen no doubt before and she is pretty excited. I am also because this will probably be my first and last concert while here in Hawaii there aren't any venues in this island. The only bands that come here are reggae artists. The only big venue is on Oahu. So we are being spontaneous and splurging. I asked her if she wanted to go 30 mins before bidding was over so this us extremely last minute.

Matt is leaving for his trip tomorrow. Yesterday I finished randi's beanie and today I finished my first legwarmer and tomorow I will start the next one after I get home from the gym and paint my nails. Might buy a shirt to wear to the concert I feel like all I own are paradise helicopter shorts and dresses. Can't wear a dress to a concert that will not suffice.

On another note who lies about their weight by FIFTY pounds ?!?!?! Cmon ladies seriously how can you be in that much denial. It is not ok to say you wigh 180 and. Then come up to my desk and weigh in at 245. Seriously like I wasn't going to notice? If I was your husband and you told me you thought that was how much you weighed I'd laugh at you and tell you the truth out of love.

And goodnight.

Seriously you can find happiness in a bag (of popcorn), so long as it has li hing mui powder, gummy bears, furikake, aradae, sour cream powder topped with butter. I know this sounds bad but its so effing good! Oh and it must be eaten with chopsticks. This could be made at home, but we were in the mall getting Matt shoes, so I had to buy some to bring to work.

After the mall, we went to 7/11 for Matt to buy a money order, he was counting monies in the car so I got out and went in. It was 2pm when we got there and I have to be at work at 3. I came out of the store when he went in about five minutes later. I waited outside of the car for him because it was locked it was just sprinkling so I didn't mind. But when he came out he asked me for the keys a) I wasn't driving and b) I wasn't the last one out of the car. I was pretty sure he was joking until I looked in the car and saw them in the ignition. Oh well, the fact that I had my popcorn in there I'm sure eased the situation. :)

Luckily he had his phone in his pocket so we called our roommate to come get us, he made it there pretty quickly considering his tire was off his car.

And now I'm sitting at work, eating popcorn and answering the phones. I just booked a party of eight direct. This is good commission, $20 bucks and they can't cancel because there is a 24 hr cancellation policy. Sometimes I have pax call and cancel because they find better prices if they do a timeshare lecture for 90 mins or something like that. So by booking it for tomorrow it can't be stolen from me and then I loose my money :(

In about an hour and a half I'll probably mosey to the back and turn on netflix and get out my knitting. I'm currently remaking a hat for my sister that did not fit her. There were to many crossover in the yarn and it made it really tight. I like this pattern better though, it shows off the yarn better. And specialty yarn needs to be showcased. It is silk and has beads and sequins, beautiful yarn. I'm almost done with legwarmer number one. It knitted a lot faster than I thought it would, in other words I haven't gotten sick of the sight of it yet. Nin I should teach you how to knit I think you would be pretty good at it.

Anyways, I watched a really disturbing movie last night at work on netflix. It was called the Gardens of the Night, plot line kidnapping a seven year old girl and using her for sex, famous people in the flick were Tom Arnold and John Malkovich.

That's all for now, I can't believe school is starting in twenty days yikes! Only eight more clasess yay!

Aloha lj,

I k ow that it has been a long while since I have written you an update. A lot has changed and life goes on. Today my coworker and friend Lindsey smith got married. She is now Shawn walton's wife and that just reminds me of slurry bernadette. But it's just the last name.
Before the wedding we went to ke kahakai beach. It wasn't the best beach that I have ever been too. The next beach over is where we ventured to first but the water was really dirty because it has a fresh water stream that flows into to it. And because it has been storming a lot lately the fresh water was brown. Ew.

So we walked back to the first beach. The beach after the dirty beach is called makalewena. It is the mostbeautiful beach on the island. It's about a teeny minute walk in the heat and humidity to get there but it goes by pretty fast. It has the clearest water and it's really warm.

We then left to go to the wedding. There were nine of us in three cars. Our friend brandon met us at the beach. So there were six guys and three girls total. This includes matt, Jason, blakely, Justin, chris reagly, Brandon, Ashley, Amy, and I.

Of course we told the guys that we wanted at least two hours to get ready before the wedding and they said they understood. So I'm standing in the bathroom doing my hair after the shower and ask if we are ready to go I wasn't even halfway through my hair! WTF so long story short Amrrive at wedding with no makeup and I wrapped the present in the car and had glittery ribbn all over myslef. Now I'm not one to usually take thisong to get ready but if I'm going to a wedding I prefer to look nice.

Whatever, anyways it was a fun wedding. We danced drank and had a good time. If any of you out there ever getarried don't make your guests byob. It sucks.

Ps I'm writing in here because I feel that is my only safe heaven I have left. My myspace and fAcebook have been overruled by people that I would rather not share my intimate details of my life with. And I would like to have my life documented somehwere in the Internet. It's as vast as the universe yet it sometimes seems regionally small. But someday I would like to look back and reminsce. And if I should die then anyone personal may read the details.

I'm only iPhone driving home from the wedding so if there are typos sorry.

Subject:This is really random
Time:7:34 pm.
Today I was at work and a man came up to my desk and talked to me for almost two hours!  He was an older man probably in his forties and was just talking about life and trying to inspire me.  It was really weird because this is the second time this has happened to me in three weeks!  WTF, seriously?  Does this happen to anybody else, random people just come up to you and say "Hey are you living your life to its fullest potential?  When you talk about the earth do you just say "earth" or do you put planet or mother in front of it?"  And its not like he was trying to sell me anything he was just some guy waiting to board his plane.

Halfway during our conversation I started to wonder, why out of all people did the universe throw two people at me in less than a month to tell me I need to be adventurous, explore the world and "follow the love path"?  He told me he thought that I was intellectual because I enjoy reading yada yada yada....but he wanted me to understand that words and vocabulary are a gift and usage of them is important.  What is this about.  I'm in a really weird place and thought right now.  How would you feel if you recently had two older guys come up to you and try to explain to you the meaning of life in under two hours?  Am I going to die soon what the hell!

My other recent run in occurred on BART of all random places.  Of course its a given that your going to meet random people on BART but mostly everyone keeps to their selves as strangers usually tend to do.  This man explained to me that I MUST SEE THE WORLD because thats what I was put here for.

What I think  is really strange is that these two men have no idea who I am what I'm about or anything.  But its like they just saw right through me picking out my qualities and asking that I share them with others.  Of course I think the latter was a little bit strange in some of the conversation but eh.  And then I think to myself why me of all people?  I think I'm already a pretty motivated and inspired person and not that he should just go waste his breath elsewhere, but that he should try and open up someone else's eyes because I'm already wide awake.  Or "enlightened" in my own ways I suppose.  Not that I sat under the Bodhi tree to achieve this or anything.

I just really needed to put that out there, not that I have many friends here or people that read this I am still baffled...

Dear Mad,

I can't believe how much you DON'T value my friendship. Getting stood up by a friend is about a million times worse than being stood up by a guy. I mean I call you to talk to you, you either A) Don't answer or B)Don't call me back. I understand that people can be busy because I am busy also but I still make time for my friends. I called you almost two weeks in advance to tell you that I was coming to Santa Cruz to visit and attempted to make plans with you to see you and hang out. I called you again the next week and then two days before I left to make sure that you still remembered that I was coming. On Saturday night I think I called you three times and left a message twice that said hey if we can't get together tonight lets do something tomorrow. YOU DIDN'T EVEN CALL ME BACK. Why should I put forth all the effort into trying to have a friendship with you. I try to make things work but when someone is constantly let down how they continue pursue a relationship with someone who only hurts them. After the years of friendship that we have had together I can't believe this is how you want me as your friend. I'm not saying that I don't want you as my friend. I just want you to know that I don't deserve to be treated like this. If you decide that you want to make the effort then I will too.

Sincerely,

Holli

This is a really intense storm that we are having right now. As of this morning there was foot of snow at MY house in downtown Sonora. The snow line is @ Lovers Leap right before Knights Ferry. Chains required in Jamestown. If you are thinking about powder and aren't in it...you should be because in the past three days we have recieve 36" and in the past 24 hrs we recieved 16". We have a base depth of 150"-280". On the first of March we only had a depth of 37-87". I just can't believe how much snow we have. And, it's still coming down.

Come and ride the pow.

So I finally found out what was wrong with my knee. I tore my medial meniscus and partially severed my acl...great. I don't have to have surgery right away I can wait until summer is over but, if it gets worse then I have to have it immediately. I suppose I will know if it gets worse when I either a) can't walk without my knee poping out. (ACL is the tendon that holds your knee cap to your tibia)So since its already torn it could continue and then I'm screwed. Dammit, why me. Or B)it just becomes to painful to walk because the piece of cartilage becomes lodged in my knee and I can't bend it any longer. This is not exciting news. Yesterday my radiator hose blew up on my way to work. In the past twentyfour hours Dodge Ridge recieved 18 in of snow. In the last three days we have gotten 16 to 28 in of fresh poweder. It was INSANE.

Ahhhh....winter wonderland.

There once was a man who fought
because it was what he saught
for hate and for love
for something above

He came from a place a far
and it was not in a car
The man crawled up from hell
And into his cell

To his dismay
There was a stitch in his day
The day wore thin

Ok so its just late and we are just drunk. I haven't stopped drinking since I got off of work. I don' want to get tired yet. Life is to short to be tired all the time. School gets closer and closer to being over soon. When will the snow melt, when will spring get here. Soon the days will get warm and the sky will always be clear. My life feels like its going to change so much so soon. I hope that I will be able to handle it. There are so many things that I want to do. Damn I'm crunk.
